Overview
City Runner is a futuristic branding and storytelling project set in a retro-tech dystopia. Developed as a visual worldbuilding concept, it imagines a future where 1970s muscle cars, cybernetic mods, and neon-washed cityscapes collide.
The goal was to create a fully immersive visual identity for a fictional entertainment brand — blending editorial design, character development, and motion-inspired artwork into a cinematic design system.
Role
I led the concept development, brand identity design, and worldbuilding for City Runner. This included creating the core logomark, defining the visual language, developing character branding, and producing editorial layouts and promotional artwork.
The project allowed for full creative freedom, with a focus on building a cohesive visual universe that could support entertainment applications — from digital comics to motion trailers and merch design.
Design Solution
The City Runner visual system blends retro-futuristic iconography with dystopian worldbuilding. Inspired by 1980s anime, glitchwave aesthetics, and synth-soaked noir, the project pairs angular logos with bold neon typography and moody editorial spreads.
A modular identity system was built to unify characters, environments, and promotional materials. Design elements like glitch overlays, character callouts, and motion-inspired compositions reinforce the idea of a world in motion — one where rebellion, speed, and identity are everything. From posters and digital magazines to motion teaser frames, every touchpoint is designed to feel like a glimpse into a living, breathing brand universe.
Outcome
The final system presents City Runner as more than just a visual identity — it’s a fully immersive brand world. Each element, from editorial layouts to character-focused posters, reinforces the tone of a fast-moving, neon-drenched future.
The project demonstrates how strategic design and storytelling can elevate a fictional concept into a living, transmedia brand — one that feels ready for a comic series, animated trailer, or streaming debut. It captures emotional energy, genre familiarity, and original visual thinking in a single, cohesive system.
